Polyester Staple Fibre / Recycled Polyester Staple Fibre
Polyester Staple Fibre is used in extremely varied industries and we are using it our daily lives in some or the other product which has this fibre. It is mostly used in Spinning Yarns, producing NonWoven Fabrics, Stuffing in things like Pillows, Mattresses, Toys, etc and also in the insulation purpose with some technical properties.
Polyester Staple fiber (PSF) is a man-made fibre. It is produced out of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), which is produced from purified terephthalic acid (PTA) & monoethylene glycol (MEG). A lot of companies producing the PSF, also produce it directly using PTA and MEG.
Of all the fibres in the world, Polyester Staple Fibre holds between 50%-55% of the market share.
Very Popular these days and supporting the sustainability is the Recycled Polyester Staple Fibre (rPSF). Recycled Fibre is produced using the Polyester waste or from post-consumer waste such as PET bottle flakes (scrap of plastic bottles as known) or even used clothes.
rPSF is gaining very high popularity amongst the younger people since it supports the sustainability. Many brands are promoting this using it in their products with tags of GRS (Global Recycling Standards) to prove the authenticity of the fibre being recycled. GRS is traceable that it making sure that it the whole chain of recycling is followed properly.
There are various benefits of Polyester Staple Fibre over many other fibres. It is much stronger than most natural fibres. With low moisture absorbency, it is highly suitable for strain resistant fabrics, fire retardant fabrics, wrinkle free fabrics, etc. PSF also have good abrasion resistance and high elasticity.
